♻️ Milestone Achieved: SAS Foundation Launches First E-Waste Collection Drive in Noida at Super Nova Residency
As the world grapples with the growing challenges of environmental degradation and electronic waste, the Swavalamban Avam Swabhimaan Foundation (SAS Foundation) continues to lead the charge with its impactful e-waste awareness and collection drives. We are delighted to share a major milestone in this journey — the successful organization of our first-ever e-waste collection drive in Noida, hosted at Super Nova Residency, Sector 94.
This momentous event marks not just an expansion of our operational footprint but also a reaffirmation of our unwavering commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable India. Here’s a deep dive into this landmark initiative, its impact, and the path forward.
🛠️ A Well-Coordinated Drive Led by Visionaries
The Noida e-waste drive was held under the visionary leadership of Dr. Nitin Saini, whose dedication to environmental sustainability has been instrumental in expanding the Foundation’s e-waste program. His proactive engagement and ground-level involvement energized the team and inspired residents to come forward and contribute.
We were also privileged to have the technical and logistical support of Mr. Pankaj from Attero, one of India’s leading e-waste recycling companies. His presence added value to the process, ensuring that the collected waste would be responsibly recycled through authorized channels.
Special thanks go to Mr. Rajat Chawla, President of the AoA (Apartment Owners Association) of Super Nova Residency. His unwavering support, community coordination, and eco-conscious leadership were central to the event’s success. It was heartening to see a community leader so committed to collective environmental responsibility.
🏘️ Resident Participation: The Heart of the Drive
The enthusiasm of the residents of Super Nova Residency was truly inspiring. Young and old alike joined hands in this green mission, dropping off discarded electronics — from old mobile phones and laptops to used chargers, adapters, and home appliances. It wasn’t just about handing over waste; it was a moment of learning, contribution, and community bonding.
What set this event apart was the focus on raising awareness, not just collecting waste. Residents were informed about:
- The dangers of improper e-waste disposal
- The toxic elements hidden in everyday electronics
- How improper handling harms both human health and the environment
- Why formal recycling is essential for a circular economy
Informative brochures, banners, and expert talks made this drive a platform for eco-education as much as eco-action.
📦 Impact in Numbers: 2297 Kgs and Counting!
This drive pushed us past a crucial landmark. With the addition of the Noida collection, SAS Foundation has now collected an astounding 2297 Kgs of e-waste this financial year. This brings us closer to our ambitious goal of collecting 3 tonnes of e-waste by year-end — a target rooted in our vision to make real, measurable environmental impact.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate what this means:
- 2297 Kgs of e-waste diverted from landfills
- Toxic elements like lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants safely processed instead of leaching into soil and water
- Materials like copper, gold, and plastic recovered for reuse, promoting resource conservation
🌆 Scaling Impact Across Cities
With the success of this Noida drive, SAS Foundation’s e-waste mission has now touched 6 major Indian cities:
- Delhi
- Gurgaon
- Faridabad
- Mumbai
- Bangalore
- Noida
This growing footprint highlights our commitment to pan-India sustainability efforts, powered by community engagement, partnerships, and grassroots mobilization.
But we are not stopping here.
Next destination: Chennai and beyond! Our planning teams are already engaging with local communities, RWAs, and municipal bodies to organize similar drives in upcoming cities.
💬 How Can You Be a Part of This Movement?
One of the driving beliefs at SAS Foundation is that every citizen is a stakeholder in sustainability. Whether you’re a student, working professional, homemaker, or corporate leader — you have a role to play.
Here’s how you can join the mission:
💡 1. Organize a Drive
Partner with SAS Foundation to host an e-waste drive in your society, school, college, or office. We’ll provide the logistics, awareness materials, and recycling support.
📢 2. Spread Awareness
Use your voice on social media, local WhatsApp groups, or workplace forums to talk about e-waste. Many people still don’t know the dangers of throwing electronics in regular dustbins.
♻️ 3. Segregate & Donate E-Waste
Collect and store your unused electronics responsibly. Periodically donate them through authorized collection drives or directly to SAS Foundation’s recycling network.
🤝 4. Collaborate With Us
If you’re an NGO, CSR department, or recycling partner, collaborate to scale this initiative in more cities and communities.
🌟 Driving Change, One Community at a Time
This Noida event wasn’t just a collection drive — it was a milestone in our mission to foster a culture of responsible recycling. Every kilo collected, every conversation had, and every child educated adds to the growing wave of environmental consciousness.
Such events also reaffirm the power of public-private-community partnerships. From leadership by Dr. Nitin Saini to logistics from Attero and support from residents — it took collaboration and care to make this happen.
🧭 Looking Ahead: Vision 2025
SAS Foundation’s long-term goals include:
- Establishing permanent e-waste collection centers in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities
- Launching eco-awareness campaigns in schools and colleges
- Conducting workshops and training to upskill informal waste workers for safe e-waste handling
