Empowering Through AI: SAS Foundation’s Interactive Session on ChatGPT with ETASHA Society
Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence for Communication and Language Development
At Swavalamban Avam Swabhimaan Foundation (SAS Foundation), our mission revolves around creating opportunities for learning, empowerment, and innovation—especially for youth and underserved communities. In our latest initiative, we took a significant leap forward by organizing a highly engaging and educational session titled “ChatGPT: Harnessing AI for Effective Communication and Language Improvement” in collaboration with ETASHA Society.
Held as part of our digital literacy and education awareness drive, the session was an eye-opening experience for over 40 enthusiastic participants who joined us to explore how cutting-edge AI tools like ChatGPT can support personal growth, professional readiness, and lifelong learning.
💡 Why This Session Matters
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept—it’s a part of our everyday lives, influencing how we communicate, learn, and work. Tools like ChatGPT—developed by OpenAI—offer vast potential to assist users in writing better, thinking clearly, solving problems, and even building careers.
But to unlock this potential, there must be awareness, understanding, and access.
Recognizing this gap, SAS Foundation took the lead in making AI approachable and beneficial to learners who may not otherwise be exposed to such technologies. The session focused on equipping participants with practical skills while helping them understand the broader implications of AI in modern life.
👨🏫 Led by Expert Mentor: Dr. Nitin Saini
The session was led by Dr. Nitin Saini, an educator and technology advocate whose experience spans communication, training, and AI integration. With a natural ability to make complex ideas simple, Dr. Saini guided the audience through the evolution of AI, how natural language processing (NLP) works, and the role ChatGPT plays in today’s digital landscape.
He began with an introductory walkthrough of what ChatGPT is, how it functions, and the types of tasks it can perform. Participants learned that ChatGPT is more than a chatbot—it’s a writing assistant, language coach, brainstorming partner, and learning tool rolled into one.
🧠 Session Highlights
Here are some key aspects that made this session both informative and inspiring:
1. Demystifying ChatGPT
Dr. Saini took participants through the basics of AI and machine learning, explaining how ChatGPT processes language, generates responses, and learns from data. He demonstrated how queries are interpreted and how users can craft better prompts to receive meaningful answers.
2. Hands-on Experience
Participants engaged in live demos, where they interacted with ChatGPT on real tasks such as:
- Drafting professional emails
- Writing resumes and cover letters
- Improving grammar and sentence structure
- Translating and simplifying content
- Preparing for interviews or presentations
These interactive activities sparked curiosity and confidence among learners, many of whom were using such technology for the first time.
3. Communication Skill Building
A central theme of the session was how AI can support effective communication. Participants practiced refining their messages, correcting grammatical errors, enhancing vocabulary, and building coherent arguments using ChatGPT.
For young professionals and students preparing to enter the workforce, these skills are invaluable.
4. Ethical and Responsible AI Use
No discussion on technology is complete without addressing its ethical dimensions. Dr. Saini emphasized the importance of responsible AI usage, including:
- Avoiding plagiarism
- Not over-relying on AI for original thinking
- Respecting data privacy and copyright
- Understanding the limitations and biases of AI systems
This segment sparked a thoughtful discussion on how to use AI as a support tool, not a replacement for human creativity and judgment.
👥 An Engaged and Diverse Audience
The session saw participation from over 40 learners and educators, including key figures such as Meenakshi Nayar, Mini Bhargava, and Rajeshwari, whose presence further enriched the conversations. Their insights and questions helped deepen the discussion, especially around real-world applications in education, youth training, and workplace readiness.
The audience comprised students, youth mentors, educators, and career aspirants—each with unique perspectives and learning goals. What united them was a shared eagerness to understand how AI can help them grow personally and professionally.
Participants expressed excitement at the practical benefits of the session:
“I had heard of ChatGPT but never knew it could help me write better or prepare for interviews. I’m going to start using it for daily practice.” – Participant, ETASHA Society
“This session opened up a whole new way of learning for our students. It was relevant, accessible, and well-delivered.” – Faculty member, ETASHA Society
📍 Beyond the Classroom: Real-Life Applications
The session emphasized real-life utility over abstract theory. For example:
- A participant used ChatGPT to prepare an elevator pitch for a job interview.
- Another used it to summarize a long article into key points for class discussion.
- Some learners explored how AI could help them prepare for entrance exams and write project reports.
These exercises helped demonstrate that AI is not just for coders or tech experts—it’s a tool for everyone.
🤝 A Collaborative Approach to Learning
SAS Foundation’s partnership with ETASHA Society in this initiative represents our belief in collaborative growth. ETASHA Society has long been working toward equipping youth with employability and life skills, and this session aligned perfectly with their mission.
Bringing together technology, mentorship, and a safe learning environment created a rich experience that blended innovation with impact.
🌍 Looking Ahead
The success of this workshop has opened the door for more such programs in the near future. SAS Foundation plans to:
- Host more AI awareness and digital literacy sessions in partnership with NGOs and schools
- Launch AI Literacy Bootcamps for rural and urban youth
- Create multilingual resources on using ChatGPT for communication and education
- Provide certificates and mentoring pathways for students exploring tech-enabled careers
We are committed to making next-generation tools accessible to all, especially for learners from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds.
