Your Inbox & Wi-Fi Are Under Attack — But Our Students Are Learning to Fight Back!

Inbox & Wi-Fi

Imagine teenagers confidently spotting a phishing email or securing their home Wi-Fi network — that’s the kind of real-world transformation happening in the Cybersecurity Awareness Internship 2025–26 by Swavalamban Avam Swabhimaan Foundation (SAS Foundation). This weekend, we continued our mission to make digital safety second nature.

With expert-led sessions from Kartik Ganotra (TCS), students from Classes 9 to 12 tackled two core cybersecurity topics:

📧 Module 5 – Email Security: Think Before You Click

Phishing scams. Fake email addresses. Malware-laced attachments. Students learned how email remains one of the most exploited cyber-attack vectors — and how to spot the signs.

From generic greetings and urgent tones to strange links and grammatical errors, interns like Rudra Singh Gaming and Dhruv Sharma broke down real phishing samples and discussed red flags to avoid.

💡 Key takeaways:

  • Always verify sender addresses
  • Never click on suspicious links
  • Use strong passwords & enable 2FA
  • Avoid checking emails on public Wi-Fi

📌 Assignment: Draft an awareness email simulating a phishing campaign — explaining the threat and how to prevent it.

📡 Module 6 – Wi-Fi Security: Lock Down Your Network

Wi-Fi is the gateway to everything we do online. In this session, students explored how unsecured Wi-Fi can expose us to:

  • Man-in-the-middle attacks
  • Fake hotspots mimicking public networks
  • Tools like Flipper Zero that can jam or hijack devices
  • Exploits through smart home devices and routers

From changing default router passwords to using VPNs and parental controls, students explored both behavioral and technical defenses. They even reviewed tools like Fing to monitor their networks.

📌 Assignment: Write a short report on how public Wi-Fi can be exploited + countermeasures to stay safe.

🔐 Students Now Think Like Ethical Hackers

This wasn’t just tech talk. Students began thinking critically — questioning digital behaviors, identifying threats, and taking ownership of their security.

“Email is no longer just for communication — it’s a gateway. And I now know how to keep it closed to attackers.” — Intern Feedback, Class 10

With 80+ students enrolled and real engagement in every session, SAS Foundation is proving that digital literacy can — and should — begin early.
