SAS Foundation conducted 25 e-waste collection drives

There is something remarkable hiding inside every drawer cluttered with old phones, every shelf storing unused gadgets, and every cable we promise ourselves we’ll “use someday.” They carry silent stories — and together, they hold the power to reshape India’s sustainability journey.

Between March 2024 and October 2025, SAS Foundation conducted 25 e-waste collection drives, engaging communities across Dwarka, Faridabad, Bangalore, Thane, Gurugram, and beyond. The outcome was powerful:

3,948.8 kg of e-waste was collected and diverted from landfills.

But this is not just a story of numbers.

It is a story of behavior, readiness, and the quiet revolution happening inside Indian homes.

1. When recycling becomes easy, India rises

The most surprising finding?

957 kg — nearly one-fourth of the total — came not from drives but from Pickup Calls.

People simply asked us to collect their e-waste from home.

This is a profound insight: India doesn’t lack intention; it lacks convenience.

The moment recycling becomes accessible, citizens respond enthusiastically and responsibly.

And so, SAS Foundation has made it simpler than ever:

To request an e-waste pickup, just send “Pickup Needed” on WhatsApp to 📱 9654709935

One message.

One doorstep pickup.

One step toward a cleaner world.

2. Faridabad: A city that shows what community leadership looks like

With 1,267 kg collected across 10 drives, Faridabad has emerged as a shining example of active citizen participation. RWAs, community leaders, and residents came together with purpose, proving that neighbourhood leadership can spark city-wide change.

Faridabad teaches us that when communities align around a shared goal, impact accelerates.

3. Bangalore: Small actions at scale

Bangalore contributed 643 kg through just three drives — a tremendous outcome. Large, organized societies demonstrated what happens when awareness, access, and willingness combine.

Imagine this model replicated across every major residential hub.

The results would be exponential.

4. Dwarka: The heartbeat of consistency

Dwarka conducted nine drives, showing strong engagement. Though the per-drive volume was lower, the message was loud and clear:

When awareness is sustained, participation becomes a habit.

Dwarka is not just collecting e-waste — it is cultivating a culture.

5. Gurugram & Noida: The opportunity zones

These regions produced modest numbers, but they are rich with potential. High-density housing, tech-enabled residents, and growing environmental consciousness present fertile ground for transformation.

All they need is a nudge, a pickup, or a well-timed drive.

Beyond Numbers: What This Really Means

Every gram of e-waste collected represents:

  • A battery that won’t leak into soil
  • A device that won’t pollute groundwater
  • Metals that can be recycled, not mined
  • Energy saved
  • A step toward a circular economy

And more importantly —

It represents citizens who care.

Citizens who act.

Citizens who believe that sustainability is everyone’s responsibility.

This data is proof of something bigger:

India is ready. Ready to embrace responsible recycling.

Ready to make environmental action part of everyday life.

Ready to lead by example.

Your Home. Your Devices. Your Impact.

If you have old phones, broken chargers, unused cables, or any electronic waste lying at home, don’t let them become tomorrow’s landfill.

Just send “Pickup Needed” to 📱 9654709935

And we will take care of the rest — safely, responsibly, and through authorized recyclers.

Together, we are building a mindset.

Together, we are shaping a movement.

Together, we can make responsible disposal the new normal across India.

Here’s to a cleaner home, a greener city, and a more conscious India — one device at a time. 🌱♻️
