In the summer of 2024, the Swavalamban Avam Swabhimaan Foundation (SAS Foundation) proudly hosted two impactful internship programs aimed at nurturing youth leadership, environmental responsibility, and digital innovation. Designed specifically for students from BGS International Public School – India, Dwarka, the SASF Green Champion Internship 2024 and the SASF IT Internship 2024 became platforms of transformation, growth, and action.
This initiative was not just about internships—it was a journey of empowering the next generation to rise as eco-leaders and digital innovators, deeply rooted in responsibility and driven by purpose.
The response from students was overwhelming. A total of 31 enthusiastic applications poured in. Among these, 12 students enrolled for the IT Internship, 23 joined the Green Champion Internship, and 4 students courageously took on the challenge of participating in both, showcasing their commitment to learning and societal impact.
This participation reflects a growing consciousness among the youth about their role in shaping a more sustainable, technologically driven future.
The Green Champion Internship focused on one of today’s most pressing environmental concerns—e-waste management. Through an engaging, hands-on experience, students learned how improper disposal of electronics contributes to pollution and how thoughtful collection and recycling can mitigate these effects.
The internship was centered on raising awareness about e-waste, its environmental impact, and best practices for its disposal.
Interns engaged in five major e-waste collection drives across residential societies in the Delhi NCR region.
Collectively, the students helped in collecting over 450 kilograms of e-waste, showcasing what determined youth can achieve when given the right platform.
These drives not only created awareness in local communities but also instilled a deep sense of environmental stewardship in the interns. Through real-world application, the students connected theory with action, developing a genuine understanding of climate change, sustainability, and community involvement.
Their passion, dedication, and energy proved that youth aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow—they are change-makers today.
Parallelly, the SASF IT Internship provided a deep dive into website development and digital design using the WIX platform. In a world increasingly reliant on digital interfaces, this 4-week internship was curated to offer students practical and market-ready skills.
Introduction to WIX & Basic Website Setup – Understanding the platform and creating a foundation for their digital space.
Advanced WIX Features and Design Principles – Learning to use professional layouts, galleries, and responsive design tools.
Content Creation & Integration – Crafting and embedding media, text, links, and interactive components.
Testing, Launch, and Maintenance – Bringing their ideas to life with fully functional, personalized websites.
From ideation to execution, each intern was encouraged to think creatively, problem-solve, and express their individuality. The result? A portfolio of student-built websites reflecting their passions, talents, and voices.
This internship wasn’t just about technology—it was about confidence, communication, and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset.
What made this internship experience even more impactful was the involvement of dedicated mentors. Mohisha Sharma and Devyanshi Gupta, accomplished students from ITL Public School, served as mentors for the IT track. Every Saturday, they conducted interactive Connect Sessions, guiding interns through challenges, offering feedback, and inspiring them with their own learning journeys.
Their mentorship proved invaluable. The sessions fostered a sense of community and collaboration, helping students navigate their projects while learning the importance of peer support and leadership.
At the conclusion of the internships, all participating students received:
A Certificate of Internship
A Letter of Completion acknowledging their contribution and skill acquisition
But more than that, they walked away with life-changing experiences—whether it was speaking confidently at an e-waste awareness drive, creating a web page from scratch, or working together as a team for a larger cause.
The internships provided a sense of purpose and accomplishment. It was a summer well spent—not in idle relaxation, but in meaningful action and learning.
This internship season reaffirmed a powerful truth: when youth are given the opportunity, mentorship, and encouragement, they rise to the occasion. They innovate, inspire, and initiate.
From collecting e-waste to building websites, these students took their first steps toward becoming eco-ambassadors, digital leaders, and most importantly, responsible citizens.
The SAS Foundation believes that education, empowerment, and environment are deeply interconnected. Through internships like these, they aim to nurture a generation that not only dreams big but also takes responsibility for turning those dreams into impact.

The success of the SASF Summer Internships 2024 is only the beginning. These internships represent much more than certificates—they are stepping stones to a brighter, more responsible future. When students learn to care for the planet, harness digital tools, and step out of their comfort zones, they grow into resilient leaders our world so desperately needs.
