From Ring to Glory: How SAS Foundation’s Support Helped a Young Boxer Punch Above His Weight

The success story of Dream Fit Sports Academy is a powerful testament to what happens when raw talent meets the right infrastructure. In the heart of India’s sporting belt, we are proud to share the remarkable journey of Gourav, a young boxer whose recent Gold Medal is a shining example of this transformation.

Rising Through the Ropes: Gourav’s Journey

Gourav, son of Shri Sunder Singh, is a budding boxing talent who has been training under the expert guidance of Coach Sachin Kumar at Dream Fit Sports Academy. Like many aspiring athletes from modest backgrounds in Haryana, Gourav’s journey was filled with systemic challenges.

While he possessed the heart of a fighter, he faced the harsh reality of limited resources. Professional equipment was scarce, and platforms to showcase his talent were few. For months, he trained on uneven ground, visualizing a professional ring that didn’t exist. But what he did have was unwavering dedication, resilience, and a burning desire to prove himself.

Bridging the Gap: The Need for Grassroots Sports Infrastructure

Earlier this year, SAS Foundation recognized a critical gap. While many NGOs focus on textbooks, few address grassroots sports infrastructure. We identified that lack of proper facilities is the number one reason talented rural athletes dropout.

To bridge this gap, we extended our support to Dream Fit Sports Academy by helping build a professional boxing ring—a facility that was long awaited by Coach Sachin and his team of young fighters. This infrastructure upgrade became a game-changer. Suddenly, the athletes weren’t just sparring in a field; they were training in a safe, professional space that mimicked the conditions of national tournaments. This shift in environment shifted their mindset from “amateur” to “contender.”

A Golden Moment at the Sub Junior Haryana State Boxing Championship

On 18th July 2025, the investment in sweat and steel bore fruit. Gourav clinched the Gold Medal in the Sub Junior Haryana State Boxing Championship.

This was not just a medal; it was a declaration. It was an acknowledgment of his journey from the local rings of Dream Fit Sports Academy to state-level arenas. His stellar performance has also earned him the honor of representing Haryana at the upcoming Inter-State Boxing Championship, scheduled for 24th July 2025.

Gourav’s triumph is symbolic of what happens when youth empowerment through sports meets tangible infrastructure support. The boxing ring that SAS Foundation helped build played a small but crucial role in sharpening the skills of young boxers like him, enabling them to compete with confidence and focus.

The Ripple Effect: More Than One Winner

Success is contagious. Adding to the academy’s achievement, two more young boxers—Priyansh and Ritik—secured Bronze Medals in the same state championship. This proves that the talent pool runs deep at Dream Fit Sports Academy, and with the right facilities, an entire generation of athletes can be uplifted.
