At the heart of every social transformation lies a story — a story that begins with empathy and evolves into action.
Project SustainaBite, one of SAS Foundation’s newest initiatives, was born out of such a story — one of struggle, dignity, and the power of sustainable solutions.
🌿 The Story That Sparked a Movement
Harish, a daily wage worker, was left paralyzed and speech-impaired after a severe illness. He is survived by his wife, Rani, who has studied till 5th class, and their 12-year-old son studying in a government school. With Harish bedridden, Rani’s world collapsed overnight. She needed a way to earn — but her constraints were real: she couldn’t leave Harish unattended, and work had to be done from her small home.
While SAS Foundation could have supported her with groceries or monthly aid, we realized that would only offer temporary relief, not lasting dignity.
That’s when the idea for Project SustainaBite was born — an initiative that redefines sustainability not just as environmental consciousness, but as economic empowerment through responsible and resilient livelihoods.
With the help of our interns and mentors, SAS Foundation decided to help Rani start a small tiffin service business — something that could be operated from her home, sustain her family, and restore her confidence. This became the seed of a larger mission — to create scalable, community-driven models of social entrepreneurship built around food, sustainability, and human resilience.
💡 What Project SustainaBite Stands For
Project SustainaBite aims to weave sustainability into the very fabric of everyday life — where every meal tells a story of care, and every act of support nurtures both people and the planet.
It focuses on three pillars:
- Empowerment through Entrepreneurship — Creating livelihood pathways for individuals like Rani through skill-building and business mentorship.
- Sustainable Food Practices — Reducing food waste, encouraging conscious consumption, and promoting eco-friendly food systems.
- Community Collaboration — Engaging youth, volunteers, and organizations to co-create impact through innovation and empathy.
👩💼 Welcoming Pawni Malik — Intern for Social Entrepreneurship
We are delighted to welcome Ms. Pawni Malik as an Intern for Social Entrepreneurship under Project SustainaBite.

🌎 A Call to Everyone — Be Part of the Change
Sustainability is not just a project — it’s a promise we make to one another and to the generations to come.
We invite everyone — individuals, organizations, and institutions — to come forward and support Project SustainaBite in any way they can:
- By contributing ideas to expand our impact,
- By offering expertise or mentorship to our interns and beneficiaries,
- Or by providing monetary support to help more families like Rani’s find self-sufficiency with dignity.
Together, we can turn compassion into capability, and sustenance into sustainability.
Let’s take one SustainaBite at a time — for people, for purpose, for the planet. 🌱
