By SAS Foundation
Every great nation is built on the strength and health of its youth. At SAS Foundation, we firmly believe that youth health begins long before adolescence – it starts with the very first bond between a mother and her child. Breastfeeding, often called nature’s perfect food, is not only nourishment; it is immunity, emotional security, and the foundation of lifelong well-being.
In line with our commitment to Global Breastfeeding Awareness Week, SAS Foundation, in collaboration with JV EdTech Medovation, organized a Panel Discussion on August 14, 2025, around the theme:
“Stronger Together: How Families, Workplaces, and Communities Can Champion Breastfeeding.”
Voices of Expertise
The event brought together a distinguished panel of healthcare leaders and educators:
- Dr. Sujata Bhaskar Sawant – Professor cum Principal, Sahara Institute of Nursing Education
- Dr. Suparna Sunil Patil – Principal, Sau. Vandana Tasgaonkar College of Nursing
- Col. Binu Sharma – Senior Director Nursing, Max Healthcare & President, INS India
- Mrs. Meena Patole – Vice Principal, LTMG Hospital, Mumbai
- Dr. Jyoti Rao (Moderator) – Co-founder & CEO, JV EdTech Medovation; Founder & VP, ANHS SSBM-Geneva
The discussion, attended by 89 participants, was hosted by Govind Choudhari (Business Development Analyst, JV EdTech Medovation) and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Devendra Gandhi, Lifetime Member, SAS Foundation.
Objectives That Inspire Action
The panel explored key objectives that resonate deeply with SAS Foundation’s vision:
- Sharing expert and community insights on breastfeeding.
- Exploring how families, workplaces, and communities can extend real support to mothers.
- Identifying challenges and practical solutions for sustainable breastfeeding practices.
- Inspiring commitment to breastfeeding-friendly policies at institutions and organizations.
- Building networks of support that last beyond awareness weeks.
Why This Matters to SAS Foundation
For SAS Foundation, this initiative goes beyond a week-long campaign. It is aligned with our broader mission to empower youth through education, health, environment, and community development.
- Health is the first pillar of empowerment. A child who receives the right start through breastfeeding has stronger immunity, better cognitive development, and a reduced risk of chronic illnesses.
- Youth empowerment cannot be achieved without focusing on the earliest stage of life – infancy. By creating awareness and building systems of support, we ensure that today’s infants grow into tomorrow’s healthy, confident youth.
- Community well-being thrives when mothers are supported, workplaces are empathetic, and families stand united in nurturing the next generation.
A Call to Action
Breastfeeding is not just a personal choice; it is a collective responsibility. Families, workplaces, healthcare systems, and communities must come together to ensure that mothers feel supported, respected, and empowered in this journey.
At SAS Foundation, we remain deeply committed to youth health initiatives and will continue to collaborate with partners, educators, and healthcare leaders to build a healthier, more resilient future for India’s youth.
Because when we empower mothers, we empower generations. 🌸
