When Communities Lead the Green Transition: The Story of Sector 76’s Inspiring E-Waste Movement

On 12th October 2025, something remarkable happened in Sector 76, Faridabad. What began as an environmental initiative became a powerful example of community-led sustainability, when the RWAs of BPTP Park Floor 2 and Palm Residency joined hands with SAS Foundation to conduct a deeply impactful E-Waste Collection Drive.

This was not just another collection activity —

it was a statement of collective environmental responsibility, and a sign that urban communities in India are ready to lead the green transition from the front.

A Drive that Turned Awareness into Action

The results of the drive reflect both commitment and consciousness:

  • 📱 39 Smartphones
  • ☎️ 14 Feature Phones
  • 💻 9 Laptops
  • 🖥️ 9 Desktops
  • 🌬️ 4 Fans
  • 🍲 3 Microwaves
  • 📱 2 Tablets
  • 📺 2 LED TVs
  • 🖨️ 2 Printers
  • ☎️ 1 Landline
  • ♻️ 136 kgs of miscellaneous e-waste

This initiative marked a significant milestone for SAS Foundation —

our 25th e-waste drive overall, and the 10th in Faridabad.

But the real story lies in the mindset shift these numbers represent.

The Power of Community-Driven Environmental Leadership

Sustainability thrives when people take ownership — and the Sector 76 communities showed what is possible when residents, RWAs, and volunteers stand united for a cause.

The RWAs of BPTP Park Floor 2 and Palm Residency played a crucial leadership role. Their active facilitation, mobilization of residents, and encouragement of responsible disposal practices turned this initiative into a movement.

This is what grassroots environmental leadership looks like — not top-down mandates, but bottom-up momentum.

Celebrating Volunteer Leadership: The Role of Shravan Dabi

A special acknowledgement goes to Mr. Shravan Dabi from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), whose tireless efforts and personal commitment to sustainability have been inspiring.

Shravan has been:

  • Driving e-waste awareness across Sector 76
  • Mobilizing residents and RWAs
  • Volunteering in each drive
  • Strengthening the long-term culture of responsible recycling

His contribution reflects the larger truth that corporate professionals and citizens can influence environmental change far beyond their workplaces.

E-Waste: A Growing Challenge, A Shared Responsibility

India is one of the fastest-growing consumers of electronics — and also one of the largest generators of electronic waste. Much of this ends up in landfills, harming ecosystems, groundwater, and public health.

But initiatives like this one create micro-movements of change:

  • A society that responsibly disposes of gadgets
  • A child learning why e-waste matters
  • A volunteer inspiring a neighbourhood
  • A community choosing recycling over convenience

These moments build a foundation for a circular economy, where resources are recovered, toxicity is prevented, and sustainability becomes a way of life.

A Future Built by Communities

The success of this initiative in Faridabad is not an isolated event — it is a signal of what is possible when communities embrace sustainability not as a forced obligation, but as a shared value.

This is thought leadership at the community level:

  • RWAs becoming champions of environmental stewardship
  • Volunteers stepping up as catalysts of awareness
  • Residents participating as conscious citizens

Together, they demonstrate that sustainability is not about grand speeches —

it is about consistent, collective action.

The Road Ahead

With every drive, SAS Foundation continues to strengthen its vision of environmental responsibility. But the real credit belongs to the communities who open their doors, their minds, and their hearts to a greener future.

Sector 76 has set an example worth emulating —
an example of how real change begins not in boardrooms, but in neighbourhoods.

As we look forward, one thing is clear:

When communities lead, sustainable transformation becomes unstoppable.

If you’d like your society to join this movement, SAS Foundation is always ready to support with awareness, logistics, and e-waste collection boxes.

Together, we can build a cleaner, more responsible India. 🌿♻️
