Sometimes, the smallest gestures create the biggest impact.
What may appear to be a simple piece of clothing can become a symbol of dignity, confidence, and hope for a child. At SAS Foundation, we have witnessed how acts of kindness—when driven by genuine intention—can transform ordinary moments into powerful stories of empowerment.
One such story began with the generosity of Ms. Promila Verma, who decided to turn a difficult situation into an opportunity to help others.
Turning Adversity into an Act of Kindness
During the COVID period, the T-shirt manufacturing unit owned by Ms. Promila Verma’s family had to shut down. With a significant inventory of newly manufactured T-shirts and shorts remaining unsold, the family faced a choice—dispose of the stock or use it to benefit society.
Choosing compassion over convenience, Ms. Verma decided to donate the clothes so they could reach those who truly need them.
Although there were several easier ways to distribute the clothing—such as handing them out outside nearby Gurudwaras—Ms. Verma chose a more thoughtful approach. She conducted careful research online to identify NGOs that were credible, transparent, and actively making a difference.
After evaluating several organizations, she eventually chose SAS Foundation, trusting the organization’s credentials, authenticity, reputation, and the meaningful impact it continues to create in communities.
Her generous donation included more than 250 new T-shirts and shorts, which SAS Foundation committed to distribute among children and communities who would benefit the most.
Extending the Impact to Young Students
Over time, these donated clothes have reached several deserving beneficiaries, including children in orphanages and blind hostels, ensuring that the contribution continues to spread dignity and happiness.
Recently, SAS Foundation carried forward this effort by distributing around 50 new T-shirts to students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) studying at MCD Pratibha Boys School in Chhattarpur, New Delhi.
The initiative was led by Dr. Nitin Saini, Managing Trustee of SAS Foundation, along with Sushil Khosla, a volunteer from TCS, who joined the effort to personally interact with the students and understand their aspirations.
A Classroom Filled with Energy, Talent, and Dreams
What made this visit truly special was the vibrant interaction with the students.
The classroom quickly turned into a lively space filled with enthusiasm and curiosity. The children eagerly recited Hindi and English poems, confidently spoke the table of three, and actively participated in conversations about their dreams for the future.

One of the most touching moments during the visit was seeing the spark in the students’ eyes as they received the vibrant printed T-shirts. For many of them, this simple gift brought immense joy and a renewed sense of confidence.

Ms. Promila Verma’s thoughtful donation, combined with the on-ground efforts of SAS Foundation and its volunteers, ensured that the resources reached children who truly benefit from them.
