Transforming Education Through Technology!

Bridging the Digital Divide: SAS Foundation and TCS Empower 1250 Students with Computer Lab Donation

In an inspiring example of collaborative community development, Swavalamban Avam Swabhimaan Foundation (SAS Foundation) has once again taken a bold step toward digital inclusion and youth empowerment. Through a meaningful partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Foundation has donated 15 fully functional computer systems to the Govt. Co-ed Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Sector 13, Dwarka—an initiative set to benefit over 1250 students annually.

This impactful gesture not only upgrades the school’s infrastructure but also ignites a spark of hope, ambition, and access to a digital future for hundreds of students from underprivileged backgrounds.

The Digital Literacy Gap: A Challenge in India’s Education System

India’s youth stand at the forefront of a global digital revolution. However, access to technology remains uneven, especially in government schools that cater to students from marginalized communities. Despite curriculum reforms and a push toward digital education, many schools still lack the infrastructure to provide hands-on training in basic computer literacy—let alone advanced digital skills.

Without exposure to modern tools and technology, students are left behind in a rapidly digitizing job market, deepening the educational and socio-economic divide.

This is where initiatives like the SAS Foundation’s computer lab donation come in—not merely as infrastructure upgrades but as powerful equalizers that offer students the opportunity to dream bigger and learn better.

A Shared Vision: Empowering Youth through Technology

The SAS Foundation has long been committed to bridging inequality through education, health, environmental awareness, and social welfare. This latest initiative is yet another example of its unwavering mission to empower youth with the tools they need to succeed.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India’s largest tech giants, brought its own strong legacy of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to this initiative. The donated computer systems—well-maintained and ready for use—will help set up a state-of-the-art computer lab, giving students access to digital learning for the first time.

The computers will not only serve as educational tools but also provide exposure to career opportunities in IT, programming, and digital innovation—areas that are increasingly becoming essential across all fields.

From Access to Opportunity: Real Impact on the Ground

The new lab is already making waves in the local community. Teachers at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya have expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for integrating technology into their lesson plans.

“Earlier, many of our students had never touched a computer. Now they can learn basic software tools, internet browsing, typing, and even coding. It’s not just about classes anymore—it’s about changing their futures,” said a faculty member.

For students, this lab isn’t just a room full of machines—it’s an entry point into a world of possibilities. Whether it’s creating PowerPoint presentations, learning MS Excel, or understanding how to access educational content online, digital literacy becomes a tool for empowerment.

By supporting digital education, the initiative also contributes directly to India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes technology integration across all levels of schooling.

Our Mission: Technology for All

SAS Foundation believes in “Swavalamban” (self-reliance) and “Swabhimaan” (self-respect). That belief translates into enabling every young mind, regardless of their socio-economic background, to gain access to quality education and digital tools.

This is not the Foundation’s first initiative in this space. In recent years, SAS Foundation has:

  • Donated computers and laptops to other educational centers.
  • Conducted skill-building workshops in IT and digital safety.
  • Partnered with local NGOs and corporates to implement sustainable educational programs.

Such efforts reflect the organization’s long-term vision: to create an ecosystem where every student in India has access to digital learning resources, and no child is left behind due to lack of infrastructure or opportunity.

Dr. Nitin Saini’s Leadership and Community Involvement

The initiative was led by Dr. Nitin Saini, Secretary of SAS Foundation, whose leadership continues to inspire holistic development and grassroots impact. Under his guidance, the Foundation has championed numerous projects related to health, environment, gender rights, and now, digital literacy.

Speaking about the donation drive, Dr. Saini shared:

“Digital literacy is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. With this lab, we are not only giving these children access to technology but also unlocking their potential. We are proud to collaborate with TCS, whose support is helping us bring meaningful change to where it is needed the most.”

What Lies Ahead: Scaling the Impact

This project is only the beginning. SAS Foundation is actively exploring more partnerships to:

  • Establish similar computer labs in other underserved schools.
  • Provide regular training sessions for teachers on integrating technology into classrooms.
  • Offer after-school digital literacy programs for children and youth from nearby communities.

Through a combination of technology donations, capacity-building, and long-term planning, SAS Foundation aims to turn isolated acts of giving into a sustainable, systemic change.

How You Can Get Involved

Change is a collaborative effort. If you or your organization would like to support this mission, here’s how you can help:

  • Donate laptops or IT equipment to build or upgrade digital labs in schools.
  • Sponsor skill development workshops in your locality through SAS Foundation.
  • Volunteer as a mentor or trainer to help youth acquire digital and career-readiness skills.
  • Share and promote such initiatives on social media to raise awareness.

Small actions, when multiplied by many, can have a profound and lasting impact.
