SAS Foundation Launches Its First Plastic Waste Collection Drive in Faridabad: A Small Beginning Toward a Zero-Waste Future

On 18 January 2026, SAS Foundation marked an important milestone in its environmental mission by conducting its first Plastic Waste Collection Drive at BPTP Park Floor II, Sector 76, Faridabad. The initiative, though modest in scale, signifies a powerful shift in community-led environmental action. It reinforces the idea that sustainable change begins with small, consistent, and collective efforts.

This first drive collected 5.5 kilograms of plastic waste, which will now be recycled into high-quality plastic granules through our responsible recycling partner, Finobadi. The conversion of waste into reusable raw material not only prevents plastic from entering landfills and water bodies but also supports the larger vision of a circular economy—an ecosystem where resources are continuously reused and regenerated.

Why This Drive Matters: Moving From E-Waste to Plastic Waste Solutions

SAS Foundation has previously conducted multiple e-waste collection drives in Sector 76, Faridabad, making the locality more aware, responsive, and conscious of responsible waste management. The step toward plastic waste collection is a natural progression and aligns with our commitment to protect the environment across diverse waste streams.

Plastic waste, especially single-use plastics, remains one of the most challenging pollutants in India. From clogging drains to degrading soil quality and harming ecosystems, untreated plastic disrupts environmental balance in numerous ways. Launching this drive is part of SAS Foundation’s long-term strategy to help communities transition toward:

  • Zero-waste living
  • Responsible consumption and disposal
  • Adoption of recycling practices
  • Building sustainable, eco-conscious neighborhoods

With every kilogram of plastic diverted from open dumping, we take one step closer to creating cleaner, safer, and greener public spaces.

Community Participation: The Heart of the Movement

At the drive, Dr. Nitin Saini represented SAS Foundation, while Karan represented our channel partner, Finobadi, which plays a pivotal role in ensuring proper recycling and processing of collected waste. The initiative was further strengthened by the presence and dedication of our volunteers:

  • Shravan Dabi (TCS)
  • Shital Jain (DMRC)
  • Rakhi Bansal Modi (Cognizant)

Their passion, energy, and commitment exemplify the essence of community-driven environmental stewardship.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to the RWA of BPTP Park Floor II for embracing this initiative and taking a commendable step toward building a more sustainable society. Without active support from resident welfare bodies, achieving long-term environmental impact is nearly impossible. Their involvement reflects a growing recognition that sustainability is not just the responsibility of organizations—it is a shared responsibility of every household.

A Modest Start with Deep Significance

Collecting 25.5 kg of plastic waste may appear small when measured in pure numbers. However, its symbolic impact is profound:

  • It reflects the willingness of residents to participate.
  • It establishes the framework for future monthly drives.
  • It demonstrates trust in SAS Foundation’s environmental initiatives.
  • It strengthens the ecosystem between community members, NGOs, and recycling partners.
  • It charts a clear roadmap for responsible plastic waste management in Sector 76.

Every impactful journey begins with a small, committed step. This first drive is that step.

The Road Ahead: Building a Zero-Waste Sector 76, Faridabad

SAS Foundation is committed to conducting regular monthly plastic waste collection drives across Sector 76, supported by structured awareness campaigns, volunteer engagement, and partnerships with residents, RWAs, and recycling organizations.

Our long-term vision includes:

1. Building a Zero-Waste Community Model

Creating a replicable waste management blueprint where household-level segregation, doorstep collection, and responsible recycling become cultural norms.

2. Strengthening the Circular Economy

Ensuring that collected plastic waste is scientifically processed and reintroduced into the production cycle as plastic granules, minimizing extraction of virgin resources.

3. Expanding to Other Waste Streams

Continuing e-waste drives, launching textile waste initiatives, and educating communities about safe and responsible disposal practices.

4. Empowering Children and Youth

Mentoring young volunteers and incorporating sustainability modules into SAS Foundation’s educational programs to build the next generation of eco-leaders.

A Collective Call to Action

Plastic waste is not just a local issue—it is a global environmental challenge. Solving it requires collaboration, awareness, and sustained community action. By supporting initiatives like this drive, residents contribute to a future where:

  • Public places remain clean
  • Soil and water health improve
  • Microplastic pollution reduces
  • Recycling becomes an everyday practice
  • Communities move closer to a zero-waste lifestyle

SAS Foundation firmly believes that transformation happens when citizens choose responsibility over convenience. This drive is proof that change is not only possible—it has already begun.

Conclusion: Shaping a Greener Tomorrow, One Drive at a Time

The first plastic waste collection drive at BPTP Park Floor II, Sector 76, may have collected 5.5 kg of waste, but it has generated something far more powerful—momentum.

Momentum for awareness.
Momentum for participation.
Momentum for change.

SAS Foundation is deeply grateful to the residents, the RWA, our volunteers, and Finobadi for making this event impactful. Together, we will continue to grow this initiative, drive after drive, household after household, until Sector 76 becomes a model for responsible waste management in Faridabad and beyond.

Because a greener future is not built by institutions—it is built by communities. And that future starts now.
